Roll a Story - Earth Day and Environment

These roll a story activities are the perfect stress-free way to get students' creativity flowing. This Earth Day and environment-themed board allows the creation of dozens of different engaging stories. These are most suitable for middle primary through to lower secondary (but I've also seen 15 year old students enjoy this as a fun activity). Perfect for down-time, literacy centres, at-home learning…this kind of activity is a reusable evergreen resource for your classroom.

This ink-friendly activity is a super low-prep way to get students enthusiastic about writing – if you have dice, you have a story! Dice templates are included with all paid roll a story activities, but digital dice (or dice from your classroom) will work well.

How does it work?
Students are to roll a die once for each listed story element. Each low-ink board provides up to six different story elements. Depending on your requirements, students roll a die up to six times (depending on your requirements) to help plan out their:

★ two main characters
★ setting (place, time)
★ source of conflict
★ an object to incorporate

They can record and plan out their story using the included graphic organiser (or in their book to save paper).

Printing and laminating
Students do not need their own copy of the story board - they only need a copy for the time it takes them to roll their dice. Laminating will help to ensure this is the ultimate low-prep activity that can be used again and again.
